Maxim and Etiquette

Within the Wado Academy members are encouraged to to follow the following maxim (Dojo Kun) both in their karate training and in their daily lives:

REIGI O OMONJI
Respect and courtesy for everything.

SHINKENMI NI TESHI
Be serious in everything.

SHINSHIN O KITAE WAZA O NERI
Work hard mentally and physically;
repeat techniques again and again.

JINKAKU KANSEI NI TSUTOME
Strive to become a better person.

WA NO MICHI O KIWAMEYO
Find peace and harmony within your life.

Whether training at the Fudoshin Karate Club or another Wado Academy club, karateka are asked to observe the following Dojo etiquette:

1) Ensure that the Dojo is clean.

2) Always bow on entering and leaving the Dojo.

3) Greet your fellow students quietly.

4) Keep your finger and toenails short and clean.

5) Do not eat or drink in the Dojo.

6) Always wear a clean Karate-Gi.
